What is boudoir photography?

“Boudoir” is the French word for a lady’s dressing room. In a boudoir photoshoot, we explore intimacy through the lens. Boudoir photography is not solely about nudity; it's about creating images that evoke a sense of confidence, self-love, and authenticity. It can involve various levels of undress, from fully clothed to lingerie or nudity, depending on YOUR comfort and preferences. The goal is to capture images that highlight your unique sensuality and beauty in a sexy, fun & empowering way.

What should I wear to my session?

You have the freedom to choose whatever outfits that make you feel confident and beautiful! While lingerie is a go-to for most folks, you can also wear other clothing or accessories that resonate with your personality and style. I invite you to prepare 2-3 outfits for your session, and if you need any support deciding what to wear, we can go over your outfit choices over a call before your session. PLUS, I have a whole “client closet” of lingerie and powerful accessories that you can choose from for your shoot.

Will my photos stay private/confidential?

We take your privacy and confidentiality very seriously, with a strict process in place to protect your personal information and the images from your session. We will deliver your digital images privately and with a password required to access the images. Prints, Album and Folio images are processed through professional services that also adhere to strict privacy policies. Digital images will only be used/shared (for advertising, social media, website, etc) with your explicit consent.

How long does a typical session last?

Expect for your session to take two to four hours, depending on which package you choose. All sessions begin with a meditation and energy work practice, then we move into the photoshoot and close the session with a grounding meditation.

Can I bring a partner or a friend to the session for support?

While we understand the importance of support during intimate experiences, we kindly (& firmly) request that you attend your boudoir session alone. Creating a safe, comfortable and focused environment is crucial for capturing the authenticity and intimacy of the moment. Our goal is to provide a safe and personalized space for your session, allowing you to fully embrace your sensuality and connect with your inner self.

How do I prepare for my session?

After your session is booked, you will be provided with a Session Preparation Guide that includes an embodiment meditation, energetic practices for getting ready, and recommendations on what to wear.

Where will my session take place?

Photoshoot location is up to you! While most photoshoots occur in Nevada County, California, River also travels through Oregon, California & Costa Rica throughout the year for forest/jungle photoshoots. If you’re interested in a specific location, please indicate so when you reach out!

Should I do a photoshoot on my own, or with a partner?

This is TOTALLY up to you!

I love cultivating sessions for individuals to celebrate sovereignty of intimacy, sensual expression & the cultivation of self love. Individual sessions are a powerful space to witness yourself & your embodiment.
If you are in an intimate relationship, setting up a couples session is also a beautiful opportunity, where you can deepen into connection in a space of witnessing, celebrating and holding each other in your love.
